Why stay in when you can play out? It's so much fun!
Walkabout performance: Definitely one of my Favourite Things to Do....
There has to be a good story, a purpose for the Play...
There has to be surprise, often delight, a double-take, a drawing-in...
Great costumes and interactive props also bring fun and laughter (or sombre reflection, or a sense of threat?) to the show...
Even better when there's a challenging of perceptions to be had somewhere along the line...
For example - get me in a pedal-powered junk automobile with other crossdressing wanna-be-toffs, send us off on a rally and picnic, and I'm happy as a pig in the proverbial!

"I first worked with Cath in 2015 when she worked as a puppeteer and maker for an outdoor production I was directing; the first of many projects which we've since worked on together. Cath is an absolute privilege to collaborate with; always considerate, highly talented and extremely professional. I always feel so lucky when she is on the team." - Jessica Rost, Chair of MK Festival Fringe, freelance Maker and Director of Outdoor Arts, June 2020.

One of my favourite audience interactions (so far!) within street theatre came from this show, when a man on a bench in a shopping centre turned to me and said "You're not real"....

Outdoor Arts
Kitty's creator Cath is also an outdoor facilitator, a Forest School practitioner, and a tutor in sustainable woodland managment. These skills and experiences can come in very handy when working on outdoor arts productions, assessing safety, accessability, timings of promenade journeys etc... There are many added challenges to Outdoor Arts, but also many, many added benefits, whether the space is a public one often used and involving passers-by, or a site-specific devised piece in a secluded woodland with a limited paying audience.
